they have received the latest batch of new <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/pensions-and-investments\/\">pension<\/a> payments worth \u00a3230.<\/p>\n<p>With the high <a data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/cost-of-living\/\">cost of living<\/a> and planned cuts to <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/03\/18\/benefit-changes-introduced-will-affect-22745193\/\">disability payments<\/a>, many will keep a close eye on their bank balance. <\/p>\n<p>The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) made the latest payment to new state pension recipients on Friday \u2013 but only to some with a specific two-digit code. <\/p>\n<p>The DWP code given to all state pension recipients dictates when the payments are made as it corresponds to the last two digits of your National Insurance number. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div on Friday, so it is worth checking tomorrow that the money has arrived in your bank account, building society or credit union account. <\/p>\n<p>The payment dates match the last two numbers of your National Insurance (NI) number. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What two-digit codes should you check for?<\/h2>\n<p>The payments are made only on weekdays, depending on the last two digits of your NI number: <\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>00 to 19: Monday <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>20 to 39: Tuesday <\/li>\n<li>40 to 59: Wednesday<\/li>\n<li>60 to 79: Thursday<\/li>\n<li>80 to 99: Friday<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If your normal payment date happens to be a bank holiday, the money might be paid earlier on the previous available weekday. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who is eligible for the DWP\u00a0state pension payment?<\/h2>\n<p>To qualify for the basic state pension, you need to have reached the threshold age and have enough National Insurance qualifying years under your belt. <\/p>\n<p>You also need to be either a man born before April 6, 1951, or a woman born before April 6, 1953. <\/p>\n<p>People born on or after these dates are part of <strong>the new State Pension system instead. <\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"factbox\" data-ico=\"factbox_article\" data-track-module=\"factbox_article\">\n<h2 class=\"factbox-title\">\n\t\t\t\tWhat is the new State Pension? \t\t\t<\/h2>\n<div class=\"factbox-content\">\n<p>One key difference to the old State Pension system is that you will not get it automatically, meaning you will have to claim it. <\/p>\n<p>To qualify for the new State Pension, you ned to be born on or after the threshold age above.<\/p>\n<p>You also need <strong>10 qualifying years <\/strong>on your National Insurance record. <\/p>\n<p>One qualifying year means a year when you were working and made NI contributions, received NI credits during unemployment, illness, parental or carer leave, or paid voluntary National Insurance, for example, if you were a freelancer or self-employed worker.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p
