Shutterstock ID 2340804649; purchase_order: -; job: -; client: -; other: -\" loading=\"lazy\" data-src=\"https:\/\/originalholdum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SEI_190424576-96cb.jpg\">\t<\/div><figcaption>Some OVO customers are eligible for the free hours of electricity (Picture: Shutterstock)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The free electricity is only open to people who are signed up to the company\u2019s reward programme, OVO Beyond, which was set up in May 2024.<\/p>\n<p>For those who are not signed up already, you can do so through the OVO app.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When are the free hours?<\/h2>\n<p>Customers are able to choose their time slots from week to week but they will only be offered off peak slots.<\/p>\n<p>It will run from May 5 until August 31 and equates to a maximum of 34 hours of free electricity this summer.<\/p>\n<p>So for those who work in the office or are not in the home much this might not be beneficial.<\/p>\n<div class=\"factbox\" data-ico=\"factbox_article\" data-track-module=\"factbox_article\">\n<h2 class=\"factbox-title\">\n\t\t\t\tWhat are the peak hours of energy use?\t\t\t<\/h2>\n<div class=\"factbox-content\">\n<p>Peak energy use times tend to be in the morning when people are getting ready for work and school between 7am and 9am, according to British Gas.<\/p>\n<p>Popular times also occur during the evening around 4pm to 7pm as people get home and make evening meals.<\/p>\n<p>Demand during these hours can lead to strain on the electricity grid and increased prices.<\/p>\n<p>Late at night or early morning tends to be when less energy is used by households across the country.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>There are hours in the late evening and on Sunday though that can be used for free.<\/p>\n<p>The reason this is the case is that during peak hours, there\u2019s not enough renewable energy around, which results in fossil fuel use.<\/p>\n<p>The following time slots are available to choose from each week:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>9am \u2013 10am on specified weekdays<\/li>\n<li>1pm \u2013 2pm on specified weekdays<\/li>\n<li>9pm \u2013 10pm on specified weekdays<\/li>\n<li>10am \u2013 12pm Sundays<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to sign up?<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-container shareable-item wp-caption\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"646\" height=\"431\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" class=\"article-image wp-image-23056323 lazyload\" alt=\"March 30, 2023, Brazil.
